The
most dramatic symptoms are suffered by those who
have Diabetes Type 1.
Some
of these symptoms are:
-
Dry
mouth
-
Frequent
trips to the bathroom with excess of
urination
-
Blurred
vision
-
Constant
or increased thirst
-
Even
though the person may have just finish
eating, he/she is getting increasingly
hungry.
-
Weakness
or a tired feeling
-
Tingling
or numbness of hands and/or feet
-

eating and/or being hungry, no apparent
reason for weight loss
-
In
very rare occasions, loss of consciousness
A
diabetic type 2 may suffer from the same
symptoms than those suffered by a diabetic
type 1. However, sometimes the symptoms
start very gradually or there are no symptoms
at all. Additional symptoms for a
diabetic type 2 are:
-
Recent
weight gain
-
slow-healing
sores, cuts, wounds
-
Development
of ulcers on legs and feet
-
Skin
itching
-
Yeast
infections
There
is another set of symptoms that need to be
addressed as well and those are the result of
a high dose of insulin to correct the Diabetes
condition, and that is hypoglycemia.
-
Cold
and/or clammy feeling
-
Weak,
drowsy and/or confused
-
Hunger
-
Dizziness
-
Irritability
-
Paleness
-
Headaches
-
Trembling
and sweating
-
Rapid
heart beat
-
Loss
of consciousness, and
-
Coma
The
normal range of sugar level varies from doctor
to doctor and as a precaution, I check my
sugar level regularly and if it is less than
70 I know I am in danger of suffering from hypoglycemia.
To bring my sugar up I have a glass of orange
juice, a piece of hard candy, or glucose
tablets. As per the American Diabetes
Association, when the blood sugar goes over
the level of 140, the sugar level needs to be
brought under control. There is another
risk factor associated with high blood sugar
and that is that if it goes too high there is
the danger of the person going into a diabetic
coma.
